This project consists of the reconstruction of county Road 57 (Bay Shore Road - Howell’s Road) in the Towns of Babylon and Islip.  The project limits are NYS Route 231 (Deer Park Avenue) and NYS Route 27 (Sunrise Highway).  County Road 57 (Bay Shore Road - Howell’s Road) in the project are is primarily a two-lane roadway and not adequate to serve traffic volumes presently using the corridor.  The objective of this project is to increase the capacity of CR57 to accommodate current traffic volumes, as well as those projected to exist twenty years after the completion of the construction.  Additionally, project goals are to upgrade the existing pavement and drainage system and, most importantly, increase safety through the use of improved roadway geometry, traffic control devices and safety appurtenances.
