DESCRIPTION:

To assist the NYSDOT in providing for scoping and preliminary design services for Stages I and II of an Intermodal Freight Transportation Center facility in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County.  The Pilgrim Hospital is right off the LIRR Main Line, adjacent to the Sagtikos State Parkway and just south of the LIE.  JAC Planning will provide support services regarding community outreach for the preliminary design services for railroad track, highway and bridge access for the development of the Intermodal Center (a railroad/highway terminal transfer facility), including the preliminary design of the Rail Terminal, and associated facility buildings required at the Pilgrim Site for necessary operations of rail freight-yard center.

 

The development of this facility will focus on providing rail transportation services for Stage I - Bulk Rail Cars, commodities moved over the existing LIRR system; and Stage II, Trailer-on-Flatcar/Container-on-Flatcar (TOFC/COFC).  TOFC/COFC movement of containers at Pilgrim will require clearance improvements over LIRR to the Pilgrim site.

 

JAC Planning’s segments of the scope of work include:

bulletSupply initial list of media and community contacts.
bulletPrepare logistics for and arrange public meetings and hearings at the request of NYSDOT and document public input received.
bulletIdentify community input opportunities.
bulletDevelop and maintain a project mailing list.
bulletCollect data and information from involved outside parties, and keep records of communications.
bulletPrepare and submit draft editions of press releases, meeting notices, legal notices, and transmittal letters to be approved by NYSDOT.
bulletLocate/establish information repositories.
bulletDevelop information as requested by NYSDOT needed for formal submittals to outside parties.
