Highway and Bridge Design, Phases I-VI, for Northern State Parkway/Route 110 Intersection Reconfiguration - D015281; PIN 0516.41

DESCRIPTION:

To assist the NYSDOT in providing for preliminary design services for major reconstruction and reconfiguration of Northern State Parkway (NSP) / NYS Route 110 (Walt Whitman Road) interchange.  It includes replacement of the existing NSP bridge over NYS Route 110.  In addition, the project will widen NYS Route 110 from 4 to 6 lanes between the interchange and the North Service Road of the Long Island Expressway (I-495).  As part of this work, the exit ramp from westbound I-495 to southbound NYS Route 110 will be reconfigured.

 

Preliminary design will include miscellaneous survey and mapping, soils investigation, development of alternatives with technical memorandum, evaluation of social, economic and environmental factors including air analysis, noise analysis, energy analysis, hazardous waste and asbestos assessment, ecological field survey, endangered species determination, storm water management, ground water analysis, visual impact assessment, bridge site data, structure justification report and public information presentations and hearings.

 

JAC Planning's segments of the scope of work include:

Supply initial list of media and community contacts.

Notify the County when participation of State and local agencies is needed.

Identify community input opportunities.

bullet

Develop and maintain a project mailing list.

bullet

Collect data and information from involved outside parties, and keep record of communications.

bullet

Prepare and submit draft editions of press releases, meeting notices, legal notices, and transmittal letters to be approved by the County.

bullet

Locate/establish information repositories.

bullet

Develop information as requested by the Department needed for formal submittals to outside parties.
