Phase II of the federal clean water act addresses
stormwater runoff as one of the prime causes of pollution in surface
waters. The Town of Hempstead was seeking to develop its own stormwater
management plan, as per New York State requirements.
JAC’s role in this project included attending
meetings with elected officials, outside agencies, as well as individual
Town departments to address compliance issues. JAC also assisted in the
preparation of the Notice of Intent (NOI), specifically the topics of
“Public Education and Outreach on Stormwater Impacts (Measurable Goals)”
and “Public Involvement/Participation (Measurable Goals)” incorporating
Town goals and objectives identified for this program.
